In the early hours of Wednesday, the Municipal Hospital of Vertientes, in the province of Camagüey, experienced a power outage, putting the lives of critical patients at serious risk.
On the social network Facebook, independent journalist Jose Luis Tan Estrada published that a source confirmed to him that the blackout occurred around 1:30 a.m., affecting people with respiratory problems and pregnant women.
Despite the efforts, the hospital's generating plant could not restore the service due to a failure in the battery.
The blackout is part of a broader energy crisis affecting the province, which faced a deficit of 99 MW that night, leaving several municipalities without electricity since 4:00 p.m.
On the platform X, the digital site Cubanet confirmed the distressing situation through a video.
These cuts have become frequent in the hospitals of the Cuban provinces, further complicating the already precarious situation of the healthcare system.
