A thief who pushed a 72-year-old man to steal his cell phone was arrested by the police in Havana.
According to "El Cubano Fiel," an official profile linked to the Ministry of the Interior, the incident occurred on 1st Street, between 182 and 184, in the Alamar neighborhood, municipality of East Havana.
"The criminal caught the elderly man off guard and pushed him; when he saw him on the ground, he took a Motorola phone from his hands and ran away," she detailed.
The subject, who according to the published photo is a young man, caught the gentleman off guard and pushed him, and upon seeing him on the ground, snatched his cellphone.
He was arrested and taken to the local police station.
The elderly are often frequent victims of the wave of violence that has been affecting Cuba for several years.
At the beginning of the month, a woman reported the assault her mother, a 70-year-old woman, suffered, during which a chain, some earrings, and a ring of great sentimental significance were stolen, as it is a keepsake from the late mother of the lady.
The incident occurred on a street in Santa Marta, in the Cárdenas municipality, Matanzas, in the middle of the morning, around 10:00 am.
"Thank God she is doing well," her daughter specified, who when going to file the report was told by the police that they could not do anything. "Not to worry, because since her children are abroad she will continue to receive help," she recounted.
In August, a man deceived an elderly woman to steal a television from another house in Centro Habana, on Gervasio Street between Virtudes and Concordia.
The subject took advantage of a lady, telling her that he was the husband of the neighbor and needed her to let him pass through the rooftop because he had left the house key behind.
After entering the house and returning the same way, because he supposedly couldn't find the key, he left with the television in a sack and under his arm.
Days earlier, five people, four men and one woman, were arrested in the Arroyo Naranjo municipality, Havana, for violently stealing an electric motorcycle from a 72-year-old woman "who is looking to make some money by doing small jobs," revealed the official Facebook profile El Cubano Fiel.
The source reported that the elderly woman - apparently very active despite her age - was at the La Palma motorcycle stand when a young woman rented it heading to Reparto Eléctrico, in the same municipality.
When they arrived at the agreed location, four men emerged to the driver who were in agreement with the passenger and stole the vehicle.
