A Cuban from Miami identified as Raúl Bello, 49 years old, was arrested on Tuesday by the Florida Highway Patrol for allegedly being involved in the theft of a refrigerated truck carrying frozen chicken valued at $100,000.
According to the police report, the stolen semi-trailer was valued at $80,000, while the cargo truck it was attached to was valued at $60,000, Local 10 reported.
The robbery occurred in the early morning of September 15, when the victim, who had parked the vehicle near her home on Old State Road 9 and Northwest 155 Lane, was alerted by her sister that the truck was no longer there.
Upon returning to the location, the victim discovered that both the truck and the trailer had been stolen.
The authorities tracked the stolen vehicle and detected it that same day on Interstate 95, heading north, followed by a white Nissan.
Bello was later observed driving the Nissan on September 17, leaving an apartment complex in West Flagler.
The investigation revealed communications between him and an unidentified accomplice, which led to his arrest on several charges, including grand theft of cargo and illegal use of a communication device.
It is reported that Bello was already on probation for previous offenses related to robbery, assault, and possession of illegal weapons. He is currently being held at the Metrowest Detention Center without the right to bail.
