Cancellation of flights:

In Puerto Rico, Primera Hora reported that since Monday, there have been some flight cancellations at airports in Florida due to the danger that Hurricane Milton poses to air operations.

Arrivals from Tampa, operated by JetBlue (B6 2721), Frontier (F9 2542), and Southwest (WN 2096), have been canceled due to adverse conditions. Likewise, the Southwest flight (WN 2773) from Baltimore-Washington was suspended.

Regarding departures, Southwest (WN 1937 and WN 4506) canceled its flights to Orlando, while Southwest (WN 3416), Frontier (F9 3979), and JetBlue (B6 2752) also suspended their scheduled routes to Tampa.

Flight statuses and airport operations are constantly changing due to the proximity of Milton. Travelers should use digital platforms to obtain updated information.

Hurricane Milton reached category five on Monday afternoon. This Tuesday morning it is reported to be category 4, but its winds are at 250 km/h.

Meteorologists warn that there are conditions for a rapid intensification of the cyclone, which is why flexible cancellation policies and date changes have been implemented for passengers.

Flexibility in flight cancellations

The media outlet Reportur stated that Delta has included flights until October 9 in its flexibility policy for destinations such as Daytona Beach, Fort Myers, and Key West.

United, American, Southwest, JetBlue, and Spirit have extended flexibility until October 10. Frontier offers changes and cancellations until October 10.

These measures have also been replicated by some cruise companies, which have modified the departure and return dates to minimize the risks associated with the hurricane.

Milton arrives at a critical moment, when some regions of Florida are still recovering from the passage of Hurricane Helene, which exacerbates the situation of infrastructure and logistics in the area.
