It will be organized according to resource availability, which shows that both initiatives will not meet the demands of the population.

The government of Santiago de Cuba, a province that is still disconnected from the National Electric System and in light of the proximity of Hurricane Oscar, has implemented measures such as the sale of charcoal and inexpensive meals to support the population.

Yaneydis Hechavarría, President of the Municipal Assembly of the People's Power in Santiago de Cuba, announced on Facebook a series of measures that, although necessary, reveal the precariousness in which the province finds itself to face the current crisis situation.

According to the report, the sale of coal and affordable food will be organized based on resource availability, which highlights that both initiatives will not meet the demands of the population.

He pointed out that the distribution of rice has begun to complete the delivery for the month of September to all family units, a process that is significantly delayed as there are only 10 days left until November comes to an end.

The supply of liquefied gas, vital for families amid a crisis of electricity generation, also depends on the ability to ensure lighting at sales points, an effort that falls on the neighbors, who have had to organize themselves to guarantee something so basic.

Regarding bread production, he pointed out that the government applies half measures, using bakeries with generators to try, at least, to meet the daily needs.

Hechavarría insisted on the need to maintain discipline, without mentioning that the failures in the system are the responsibility of a management that has not been able to ensure these services efficiently.

After the collapse of the National Electric System last Friday, the eastern region was facing the worst situation.

This Sunday, hours after enthusiastically announcing the commissioning of unit No. 3 of the Antonio Maceo Thermal Power Plant, also known as Rente, in Santiago de Cuba, the situation took an unexpected turn.

The plant, which was in the process of increasing load for its subsequent synchronization, suffered a breakdown that led to system collapse, and as a consequence, a microsystem that benefited the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo went down, leaving them without electric service.

This Sunday has been an intense and complex day for Cuba. The regime, after claiming to gradually restore the power system, experienced another disconnection in the afternoon after a "trip" occurred at the 10 de Octubre Thermoelectric Power Plant in Nuevitas, Camagüey.

According to brief information from the Electric Union of Cuba, after the mentioned "shot," the provinces from Ciego de Ávila to Holguín were disconnected, and later the rest of the territories of the country, because the trucks that kept the west of the island connected also went offline.
