The Electric Company of Havana reported that at 4:01 PM on Monday, the Electrical System in the capital of Cuba was restored, although it acknowledged that there are some faults in various municipalities.
On Facebook, the entity pointed out that so far, issues identified include the failure of an underground cable in Santa Fe, Playa municipality, where load is being transferred; a broken conductor on Camagüey and Boyeros streets, in El Cerro; and another underground cable affecting Dragones, Manríquez, San Nicolás, Virtudes, San Lázaro, and Campanario streets, in Central Havana.
In addition, work is being done to repair an underground cable in the Camilo Cienfuegos neighborhood, municipality of Habana del Este, which has left several buildings without electricity.
Likewise, the Electric Company reported that the system has registered a total of 20 complaints: one in Diez de Octubre, another in Plaza, seven in Centro Habana and Habana Vieja, and 11 in Habana del Este.
The note specified that efforts are being made to restore electrical service in the affected areas as soon as possible.
Hours earlier, the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE) in the province of Matanzas was back online, as reported in a brief message by the Cuban Electric Company.
The process is in sync with the information previously provided by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de La O Levy, who stated to the Presidency of Cuba that this electricity unit would be operational by the afternoon of this Monday.
"Starting at around two in the afternoon, there will be another significant improvement, because then we will begin working with the CTE Antonio Guiteras, which is ready, waiting for the order to proceed slowly," Levy said in statements to the government portal.
On their Telegram channels, the electric companies of Mayabeque and Artemisa reported that they are continuing to work to restore electricity service in their respective territories.
The one in Artemisa restored service in the Baracoa circuit at 6:08 pm. For its part, the Electric Company of Mayabeque reported that during the day "service has been provided at some point during the day to the majority of circuits in the province."
However, the reality experienced in other parts of Cuba is completely different.
In Santiago de Cuba, after the service was restored in 14 circuits, some completely and others partially, just an hour later the Electric Company reported that due to a sudden increase in demand, a new instability in the system was generated, resulting in another service interruption in all of them.
Two microsystems in the province of Holguín were affected during the passage of Tropical Storm Oscar through that eastern territory, according to the authorities of the province.
"Due to weather conditions, 2 microsystems were lost in the municipalities of Moa and Holguín respectively, and efforts will be made to recover them as soon as the weather allows," reported the local newspaper Ahora, which details the state of the province in the wake of Oscar's passage.
