The premiere of "Papita Frita," the new collaboration released by Oniel Bebeshito, Tekashi 6ix9ine, and Lenier Mesa, has not gone unnoticed. The song is becoming very popular among lovers of the Cuban urban genre, who celebrate this collaboration. The artists also took the opportunity to pay tribute to the late singer José Manuel Carbajal, better known as El Taiger. In several scenes of the music video, an image of the artist appears on a large screen as a tribute to his legacy.
This tribute has generated controversy, as Jorge Junior, leader of Los 4 and cousin of El Taiger, expressed his discontent over the use of his family member's image in the clip. He considered it disrespectful to use a photo of El Taiger so soon after his passing and accused those involved of exploiting the situation.
Jorge Junior's criticism was joined by some other people and followers. However, when consulting the opinion of the Facebook audience from CiberCuba Entretenimiento about the use of El Taiger's image, most of the comments were positive. Many emphasized that it was a genuine and respectful tribute to remember the deceased singer.
Users who responded to the question: "What do you think of the tribute that Lenier Mesa, Tekashi 6ix9ine, and Oniel Bebeshito made by including an image of El Taiger in the music video for 'Papita Frita'?" on the Facebook page of CiberCuba Entretenimiento considered the gesture to be nice and genuine.
On the other hand, some comments disagreed with Jorge Junior's criticisms, suggesting that his stance was exaggerated or unnecessary. Additionally, several comments mentioned the importance of focusing on the search for justice for El Taiger's death, considering that this is a more relevant issue than the controversy surrounding the tribute.
Among the comments, opinions such as: "How beautiful, I loved it, and that photo is as if he were there," "That's how he wanted to be remembered, he said it in an interview," "I think it's the best way to honor him, as if he were sharing the music video with them," and "Very good tribute" stood out.
Others, on the other hand, referred directly to Jorge Junior's statements: "Jorge Junior is seeking the spotlight; there’s nothing wrong with those artists using an image of El Taiger. I think he went too far with what he said," "Honestly, I loved it because they did it to honor him, not for publicity. I don't understand Jorge Junior's negativity," and "I loved the song, and the photo is a way for him to be present. I see nothing wrong with that. Jorge Junior should focus on finding justice for his death instead of creating controversy."
Finally, other comments expressed that the tribute was a beautiful gesture, highlighting the close relationship that El Taiger had with the artists: "They were friends, and they had no other interest than to honor their friendship," and "Personally, I liked it. It feels like one more in the group singing the song. I don't see anything wrong with it."
