Descemer Bueno reunites with his mother after four years without visiting Cuba.

In a video where he is seen hugging and kissing his mother, the musician shared a special moment with his followers, marking the realization of a long-awaited reunion.

The Cuban musician Descemer Bueno Martínez reunited with his mother after four years of being unable to travel to Cuba for political reasons.

"Here I am with my mother after four long years without being able to visit my homeland. Thank you, dear God, for giving me the opportunity to see her again," the artist expressed on his social media.

With a video showing him embracing and kissing his mother, the musician shared a special moment with his followers, realizing a long-awaited reunion. The location where mother and son met again is unknown.

Mercedes Martínez, his mother, has always been present in Descemer's words, an artist who has endured the exile implicitly imposed by the regime on all those who dare to raise their voices to denounce the dictatorship and the lack of rights and freedoms in Cuba.

In September 2023, Descemer released an emotional and touching song dedicated to his mother and to those who have stood by Alzheimer's patients.

“Mercedes is dedicated to my mom and to all the people in the world whom Alzheimer has taken so much from. I hope this song is a breath of fresh air amid the anguish and despair,” the artist wrote on his Instagram while announcing the release of the eponymous song.

In another post, after the release, Descemer added a line that he included in the lyrics: "Mercedes, I don’t know how to thank you for everything I am." On more than one occasion, the Cuban composer has spoken about his mother, from whom he is separated by geographical distance and the illness she suffers from.

“Today is your birthday, my beautiful black girl, and you have no idea how much I miss you. It has always been you and me; we had each other, and now, with the distance and Alzheimer's, the damn politics and the dirty politicians and rulers, it would be a miracle to be able to kiss your forehead,” the musician said in September 2020.

The artist said on one occasion that what he regretted most about speaking out on politics was not being able to return to Cuba to see his sick mother. "You have no idea how much I want to see you, to hug you and give you a kiss, but I failed you the day I broke the silence," he told his mother in May 2022.

"What I am most interested in telling the musicians who live in their own universe and all those who are known, whether in Cuba or outside of Cuba, is that to seize the opportunities the world offers, they must stop laughing when there is a reason to cry; they must stop remaining silent when it is necessary to tell people, in the best way possible, that enough is enough," said the musician interviewed by CiberCuba in February 2021.

Aware of how difficult it is to make that decision in Cuba, which he personally chose despite it condemning him to not being able to travel to Cuba, the artist spoke about his mother's illness.

"It's something really difficult. My mom has Alzheimer and truly doesn't know what's happening. One sometimes decides to take steps in life. She has gotten lost, even though she's physically present and receives love from the people who care for her. But unfortunately, if you ask me if I would regret doing this just to continue being part of this beautiful family relationship we've had all these years, I believe that today, I wouldn't do it at all. I wouldn't regret it at all. I am determined to know that I will never go back if that dictatorship is still in place," he emphasized.
