A Cuban mother stood in front of the municipal government of Baracoa due to the lack of electricity and food.
The woman, a mother of two children, reported that she had gone to the offices of that government agency twice and had not found a solution to the lack of electricity that had been affecting her since October 20th.
"They don't respond to me either at the OBE or at the government," the mother yelled at the entrance of the institution, according to a video shared on Facebook by the Cuban Francisco Luis Manzanet Ortiz.
In the midst of her protest, she questioned, “How much longer will the abuse and exploitation continue?” as a official emerged from the building to try to calm her down.
After Hurricane Oscar passed nearly two weeks ago, Baracoa faced several days of heavy rainfall that caused severe flooding in the region, in addition to delays in recovery efforts.
The rains have resumed as residents of that Guantanamo territory face power outages, a shortage of fuel for cooking, and a lack of drinking water.
The local government, in an attempt to quell the discontent over the poor handling of the situation, distributed the rationed products to the population for the month of October.
The distribution policy included the free provision of several essential products, which were recorded in the supply booklet, and established rationing that reflects the resource limitations in the territory.
