President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris reached out on Wednesday to congratulate Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 election.

In a series of phone calls made on Wednesday morning, both Biden and Harris congratulated Trump and acknowledged the significance of the election result.

President Biden, in a statement, praised the peaceful transition of power and invited Trump to the White House to discuss the transition process.

"The American people have spoken, and it is our duty to respect their decision," Biden said, adding that he looks forward to working with the incoming administration to ensure a smooth transition of power.

Vice President Harris also spoke with Trump, offering her congratulations and emphasizing the importance of a peaceful and orderly transfer of power.

Likewise, in speaking to his electorate, he stated that he will do everything possible to ensure a peaceful transition, unlike the previous process when Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in Washington.

A senior advisor to Harris, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that the vice president took the opportunity to remind Trump of the shared responsibility to uphold the integrity of the democratic process.

Trump's victory is seen as a significant political comeback, following a tumultuous first term that included the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol, multiple criminal investigations, and an impeachment.

The congratulatory calls from Biden and Harris are part of a broader tradition of courteous political gestures, even amidst intense rivalry.

Trump's victory was solidified with strong support in key states, and the Republicans also made gains in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, ensuring greater influence in Washington for the upcoming term.

The Biden administration has confirmed that preparations for the transition are underway, with White House staff coordinating logistics for Trump’s visit to the Oval Office in the coming days.
