A social media user, known for her unwavering and fierce defense of the Cuban regime, lashed out on Tuesday at a taxi driver who claimed that the blockade does not exist.
Jacqueline Rodríguez López, the administrator of the Facebook group "Cuba Soberana," shared the incident in this community, recounting, "I had a heated argument with a tourist taxi driver... the very brazen one saying there is no blockade."
"God, grant me patience," wrote the ciberclaria, who also "reported" the taxi driver by sharing an image of the vehicle with the license plate visible—a senseless act, as the driver simply expressed an opinion and did not commit any crime, aside from hurting the sensibilities of the regime’s fervent supporter.
However, with this act, the internet user not only subjected the driver to public scrutiny for simply expressing an opinion, but also exposed him to potential reprisals from other staunch defenders of the regime, without even having evidence of the "offense."
The author of the post concluded her "revolutionary speech" by commenting in the publication: “Let the worms inside and outside know, this is for Fatherland or Death, we will overcome. Keep lurking on social media because you are doing NOTHING and whoever wants to, let them do it."
The post sparked controversy on social media. Influencer Edmundo Dantés Junior pointed out on Facebook: “I have great respect for the driver; he came face to face with none other than the administrator of this group, who is a tough and outrageous character.”
Recently, the Cuban regime warmly welcomed a shipment of 100 electric generators donated by the American organization People’s Forum NYC, aimed at alleviating the energy crisis the island is facing following the impacts of hurricanes Rafael and Oscar. This contradicts the official narrative of the regime regarding the "blockade" by the U.S.
For his part, Miguel Díaz-Canel celebrated the arrival of aid on his social media, where he wrote: “Solidarity also comes from the American people. People’s Forum NYC has donated 100 electric generators in 10 days.”
The ruler, a close friend of the executive co-director of the organization The People’s Forum, activist Manolo de los Santos, admitted with his words that the touted "blockade" is more a rhetorical device in the dictatorship's discourse than a "suffocating policy" from the neighboring country.
Additionally, just a few days ago, Cuba received a shipment of 26,000 bottles of cooking oil from the United States as part of a humanitarian aid campaign organized by The People’s Forum, a leftist organization based in New York.
