A social media user, known for her unwavering and staunch defense of the Cuban regime, confronted a taxi driver on Tuesday who claimed that the blockade does not exist.
Jacqueline Rodríguez López, administrator of the Facebook group "Cuba Soberana," shared in this community about the incident, recounting that "I had a heated argument with a tourist taxi driver... the very bold one insisting there is no blockade."
“God, give me patience,” wrote the ciberclaria, who also "reported" the taxi driver by sharing an image of the vehicle with the visible license plate. This act seemed meaningless, as the driver merely expressed an opinion and did not commit any crime, other than offending the sensibilities of the fervent defender of the regime.
However, with this action, the internet user not only subjected the driver to public scrutiny for merely expressing an opinion, but also exposed him to possible retaliation from other staunch defenders of the regime, without even having proof of the "offense."
The author of the post concluded her "revolutionary speech" by commenting in the publication: "Let the worms inside and outside know, this is for Homeland or Death, we will prevail. Keep lurking on the networks, because you do NOTHING, and whoever wants to do something can."
The post sparked controversy on social media. Influencer Edmundo Dantés Junior noted on Facebook: "My respects to the driver, he encountered nothing less than the administrator of this group, who is a tough and reckless person."
Recently, the Cuban regime welcomed a shipment of 100 electric generators donated by the American organization People’s Forum NYC, aimed at alleviating the energy crisis the island is facing after the passage of hurricanes Rafael and Oscar. This contradicts the regime's official narrative regarding the "blockade" by the U.S.
For his part, Miguel Díaz-Canel celebrated the arrival of aid on his social media, where he wrote: “Solidarity also comes from the American people. People’s Forum NYC has donated 100 electric generators in 10 days.”
The ruler, a close friend of Manolo de los Santos, the co-executive director of The People's Forum, acknowledged with his words that the touted "blockade" is more a rhetorical figure in the dictatorship's discourse than a "suffocation policy" from the neighboring country.
Additionally, just a few days ago, Cuba received a shipment of 26,000 bottles of cooking oil from the United States as part of a humanitarian aid campaign organized by The People’s Forum, a leftist organization based in New York.
