"In Mexico, there is abundance and possibilities; in Cuba, there are none: A Cuban's reflection goes viral."

"Cubans, appreciate and value your life in Mexico."

Content creator Michel Crónicas, known for his videos about his life as a Cuban in Mexico, has once again become a trend on TikTok with a direct message full of contrasts: "I am Cuban in Mexico and I will speak the truth."

In the video, Michel compares the opportunities he has living in Mexico to those facing his fellow countrymen in Cuba.

With phrases like "I can buy many types of bread," "I have options for public transportation," "I can stay in a hotel," and "I can walk along the sidewalk in complete freedom," Michel highlighted the opportunities he finds in Mexico. His reflection didn't stop there: he asserted that "a Cuban in Mexico has and can, while a Cuban in Cuba does not have and cannot," concluding with a call for gratitude: "Cubans, be thankful and appreciate your life in Mexico."

The video, which garnered over 68,000 likes and nearly 3,000 comments, sparked explosive reactions. Many Mexican users expressed pride in their country, leaving messages such as: “Cubans know how to speak more beautifully about Mexico than Mexicans themselves, thank you”; “I’m Mexican and I’m a millionaire and I didn’t know it, thank you for showing respect for my country”; and “Here, you’re also Mexican, my friend.” Others reflected on what is often taken for granted: “Many Mexicans do not value the independence and freedom we have in this beautiful country” and “Let’s be grateful for what we have and take care of it as much as possible.”

For their part, several Cubans living in Mexico shared their feelings of identification and gratitude: “I am Cuban in Mexico and I love this country; I truly value my life here,” and “I have been living here for 26 years, and I love this country and its kind people.”

However, criticism was not absent. Some pointed out that life in Mexico also presents challenges: “But also tell them that you work hard and honestly, because later they come and expect the government to support them,” or “Enjoy it while you can, because Mexico is headed towards becoming like Cuba.”

Michel's message not only sparked a debate among Cubans and Mexicans but also struck a chord. While some celebrate the freedoms and opportunities in Mexico, others are concerned about the lack of appreciation for what already exists.

Michel Crónicas continues to be a bridge between cultures and a voice that encourages reflection, not only for those who have emigrated but also for those who live in their homeland and sometimes forget the value of freedom and opportunities.
