Yudelkis Ortiz, the first secretary of the PCC in Granma, showcased on social media the delivery of a soccer ball, calling it a moment of "special joy" for the youth of Pilón, one of the areas hit hardest by the recent earthquakes in southeastern Cuba.
“A moment of special joy for these young people from Pilón when they were gifted a ball to play soccer,” highlighted the main leader of Granma on Facebook, a gesture that contrasts sharply with the grave situation in the community and demonstrates a disconnect from their real needs.
In the images shared by Ortiz, it is evident how the regime uses the distribution of a simple ball as propaganda, showcasing it on social media as a supposed "revolutionary achievement," while the resolution of crucial issues, such as reconstruction following the recent earthquakes, progresses at a desperately slow pace.
However, this is not the first time the regime has showcased "these significant moments" on social media as if they were major solutions, trying to alleviate the suffering of families affected by the earthquakes, while the underlying issues remain without an effective response.
Recently, the first secretary of the PCC in Granma presented the activities of the project “La Guaguandunga,” a name that seems to arise from the fusion of “guagua” (bus) and “sandunga,” aimed at bringing joy to various communities in the province of Granma, which were severely affected by the earthquakes that occurred last Sunday.
Ortiz noted on Facebook that the project "La Guaguandunga," led by singer and songwriter José Alberto Tamayo (El Ruiseñor), has arrived in the municipality of Pilón, one of the areas most affected by the earthquakes, presenting this as another way to support the victims.
Meanwhile, on social media, people are reporting neglect following the earthquakes.
A young woman living in the municipality of Campechuela, in the province of Granma, showed some of the damages caused by the earthquakes on November 10 to her home and that of her neighbor, and she denounced the lack of attention from the authorities to the affected families.
Cuban Shakira Castillo Pérez shared photos in the Facebook group "We are from Campechuela" of the cracks that opened in the walls, ceilings, and structures of houses due to the impact of the earthquakes.
