The man who stabbed a customer in a Cuban café in southwestern Miami-Dade on Tuesday turned out to be Cuban and was arrested on Wednesday when he returned to the area where the incident had taken place the previous night.

A reporter from America Tevé was in the vicinity of the café when she heard the screams of several people claiming that the suspect was in the area.

Immediately, workers from the establishment and other regulars in the area chased after the individual until they managed to catch him and hold him until the police arrived.

In a video shared by the mentioned network, it shows how the Cuban apparently called 911 and implied that he was being attacked, which did not occur. The police have not yet confirmed the identity of the arrested individual or the charges he may face.

The incident occurred at "Sabor Cubano," located in Tamiami, at the intersection of 8th Street and 129th Place in southwest Miami-Dade, around 7:30 p.m. on November 19.

The victim of the stabbing on Tuesday, known to his loved ones as "Pocholo," is in critical condition.

A friend and witness to the events reported that the man intervened after hearing, at a moment when he had just exited the restroom of the establishment, that the now detained individual was threatening an employee with death to force her to go with him.

However, the verbal discussion quickly escalated and turned into a physical confrontation once both men left the establishment.

During the altercation, the assailant pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times. After the attack, the suspect fled in an unknown direction, leaving the other person seriously injured.

Witnesses called 911 to report the incident, and the victim was urgently taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.

Detectives and forensic experts were at the scene collecting evidence, reviewing security camera footage, and interviewing witnesses to clarify the events.

A spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Police Department praised the bravery of the customer who attempted to mediate the situation, but warned about the dangers of intervening in violent altercations.

"We always recommend calling the police or emergency services. These types of incidents can become dangerous or even fatal,” he noted.
