Tense moment in Havana: Thieves arrested on a bus and it was all captured on video

Residents of the La Línea neighborhood in the San Agustín district of La Lisa reported two men for ongoing thefts, which included a gas cylinder, mobile phones, and a sack of chickens. The police arrested them as they were attempting to leave on a bus.

Following reports from neighbors about several thefts in a neighborhood of La Lisa municipality in Havana, the police arrested two suspected thieves as they attempted to flee on a public transport bus.

The moments of tension during the capture and arrest of the two men were captured in videos uploaded to Facebook by a user identified as NanDoo ObDc.

Residents of the La Línea neighborhood in San Agustín, La Lisa, reported that the individuals had committed a series of thefts, which included a gas cylinder, mobile phones, and a sack of chickens, according to the report.

The images captured the moments when police officers kept an articulated bus parked, in which they had detained the alleged thieves.

In a second video, a police patrol can be seen as the officers load both suspects into the vehicle, along with a bag where part of the stolen items is believed to have been stored.

Some neighbors claimed that they were prowling around the neighborhood in the early hours of the morning and had committed multiple thefts.

One of the accusers confronted the arrested individuals and accused them of stealing her phone. "It was you and him," she exclaimed, pointing her finger at them.

Then, another woman is heard urging her to go to the police station to file a formal report of the theft. Shortly after, the patrol takes the suspected criminals away.

"We hope the authorities do their job," noted NanDoo ObDc in his post.

Crime and insecurity have risen to unprecedented levels in Cuba in recent years, although authorities insist that crime rates have declined. However, the population does not perceive this decrease.

In recent statements to the British network BBC, the Vice President of the Supreme Court of Cuba, Maricela Sosa Ravelo, asserted that insecurity in the country is an issue magnified by social media and attributed it to defamatory campaigns promoted from the United States.

However, the reality in Cuba daily contradicts the island's rulers. Reports of thefts, assaults, and murders are becoming increasingly common on social media.

On Tuesday, three men were arrested for stealing basic staple goods from a store in the Rampa Popular Council in Havana.

Victims of a serious traffic accident that occurred last week on the overpasses of Avenida del Puerto in Old Havana, in which one person died, reported that they also had some of their belongings stolen.
