The alleged thieves of an electric motorcycle in Diez de Octubre, Havana, were captured by surveillance cameras in the area. The vehicle's owner shared the footage with the intention of locating the criminals.
The events occurred on November 1st, around 3:40 p.m., according to various posts shared by the motorcycle's owner—under the profile Arthur King—in Facebook groups in recent days.
In the video footage from the cameras, a man dressed in white can be seen riding the stolen motorcycle, along with a second individual on another motorcycle, which they apparently used to arrive at the scene of the theft.
However, the posts do not specify where or how the vehicle was stolen, although the owner stated that he reported it to the authorities and provided them with videos and photos of the thieves.
He also stated that anyone who provides information about the suspects "will be well rewarded" and gave his phone number for contact. "I will find them; pray that the police does so first," he warned.
Thefts and other crimes have surged in Cuba due to the widespread crisis, a fact acknowledged by the government itself, although it still has not released statistics on criminal activity in the country.
Social media and independent news outlets are the channels through which the population learns about thefts, violent assaults, homicides, and other crimes, which have increased in recent years and continue to create an atmosphere of violence and insecurity on the streets of Cuba.
Many times, residents of a community or passersby take matters into their own hands to stop a wrongdoer due to the lack of action and inefficiency of law enforcement in addressing the rise in crime.
It has also become common in neighborhoods to install surveillance cameras to detect thieves and facilitate their apprehension.
