A whole family was murdered in their home in the municipality of San Luis, Santiago de Cuba, and their house was allegedly set on fire to make it look like they were victims of an accident.
The incident was reported on the morning of this Friday, and at least three people have died: a young man and his two parents, local reporter Yosmany Mayeta stated on his Facebook channel.
The authorities have yet to confirm the exact causes of the crime, but various reports suggest that the attack may be linked to a robbery, particularly the disappearance of some oxen and other animals belonging to the farming family.
The young man who lost his life alongside his parents in this brutal attack has been identified as Felipe Peña Santos, 30 years old. The family resided in the locality of Chamarreta, a small rural community in the municipality.
Some residents reported that attacks in the area are frequent. "In that place, they are suffering and no one cares about what happens to those who remain there," shares the daughter of a local resident who has been a victim of robbery several times, although fortunately, she has never been at home during the incidents.
A family member added that "before killing them, they took everything they had, including their animals, as they were a family with money. Sadly, they lived in the middle of a field; the village is called Chamarreta, and they lived far away from the actual settlement, which has fewer than 100 inhabitants."
"They were very close friends of mine; they killed the couple and their son and burned them inside the house. Felipe Peñas Sablón, known as Felipón, Gisela Santos, his wife, and Felipe Peñas Santos, known as Felipito. Nothing was left in the house... even the animals caught fire... I seek justice for that family and hope the full weight of the law falls upon the murderers," said another internet user close to the victims.
