Cuban youth reports aggression from an American on the bus to work: "I don't know why he did it."

A young Cuban resident in the United States shared on social media this Tuesday the traumatic experience he had on a bus en route to work, where he was unexpectedly attacked by an American man who spat on him for no apparent reason.

In his account, the young Cuban Marcos Barrera Martorell, better known as Marky (@marky_barrera) on social media, explained that, as he does every day, he took two buses to reach his workplace.

While traveling seated at the back of the vehicle, focused on his mobile phone and watching videos, a man sat down beside him without him noticing. In an unexpected moment, the man spat in his face, neck, and clothes.

Distressed by what had happened, he attempted to confront the aggressor about his actions, but only received a response in English that he couldn't understand. Uncertain of how to react, the young man chose to distance himself, moving to another seat and crying inconsolably.

"There I started to cry and cry and cry. I am a person who is very unhappy, very stupid, so to speak," said the young Cuban.

The emotional impact of the incident was so strong that they could not reach their usual destination by bus.

She got off several stops early, crying uncontrollably, to the point of vomiting from the nerves and distress she was feeling.

To complete the journey, he had to request a taxi, and although he tried to continue with his workday, he asked for permission to leave early due to his condition.

The young man expressed his confusion about the possible reasons behind the aggression, wondering if it was due to his Latino background, his sexual orientation, or simply an act of discrimination without a clear motive.

"I still don’t know why that man spat at me. Whether he spat at me because I’m Latino, for being Latino, or if he spat at me for being gay," he stated.

This experience has left a mark on him, admitting that he now feels afraid every time he has to use public transportation.

"Many people say they have experienced similar things here in the United States, things that immigrants go through. But something like this has never happened to me, and I always take the bus," she pointed out.

Although efforts have been made to return to routine, the incident has left a deep mark on daily life and has sparked a strong debate on social media about the challenges faced by Latino immigrants in the United States.

Marky began his video in shock: “The reason I got tired and am going back to Cuba... doesn’t exist! There’s no reason for this being to return to Cuba. I think about it and there isn’t one," he said in a surprising twist that made his followers burst into laughter.
