Los Leñadores de Las Tunas, the current champions of the main domestic tournament, have been chosen to represent Cuba in the inaugural edition of the Baseball Series of the Americas, which will take place from January 23 to 31, 2025, in Nicaragua.

According to JIT, the announcement came through Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, president of the Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation (FCBS), who emphasized the importance of the event for assessing the competitive level of teams from Tunas against those from across the region.

This tournament, organized by the Association of Baseball of the Americas (ABAM), will feature teams such as Panama, Colombia, Curaçao, Argentina, and the host nation.

The debut of the team coached by Abeisys Pantoja will be on January 24 against Nicaragua at the Roberto Clemente Stadium in Masaya. Throughout the tournament, they will also play at the Nacional Soberanía Stadium in Managua and the Rigoberto López Pérez Stadium in León.

According to the format, the top four teams will advance to the semifinals, scheduled for January 29, with the medal matches taking place the following day.

In addition to this commitment, the Leñadores will also compete for the island in the second edition of the Champions League of the Americas, which will take place in Mexico in April 2025.
