A Santiago activist shared on social media this Sunday the story of Dailenis, a young mother who is seeking assistance to start a business and provide a better future for her two children.

Yasser Sosa Tamayo, who often assists disadvantaged individuals, expressed his admiration on Facebook for Dailenis, a young mother who, despite lacking education and professional training, “fights” daily to provide a better future for her children, steering clear of crime and prostitution.

At just 19 years old, Dailenis is facing motherhood in conditions of extreme poverty, selling packets of soda as her only means to feed her family, the activist noted.

In addition, the young woman rejects charity and dreams of starting a small business that will allow her to be self-sufficient and better care for her children.

Sosa expressed that a mother’s gaze reflects the burden of a broken childhood and the scars of a fate that forced her to take on premature responsibilities, without the tools to face them.

"Dailenis wants to fish and not just be given a fish," said the activist, highlighting the young woman's resilience in the face of adversity.

Finally, she reported that anyone wishing to contribute to help her build her venture can reach out to the support number: +5351239208.

The worsening economic crisis in Cuba particularly impacts the most vulnerable groups. In this context, solidarity is sometimes the only way for those affected to find solutions, following the abandonment by the regime.

Recently, Sosa shared on social media the story of a child who was found rummaging through a garbage container for food on a corner in Santiago de Cuba

The activist recounted that the boy, apparently struggling with mental health issues, lived in Micro 8 with his father, who suffers from alcoholism.

A few days ago, Sosa also reflected on social media about the importance of solidarity while sharing his regular efforts to provide food for 100 people in need.
