On Saturday, December 14, a year has passed since the disappearance of the young Karildi Caridad Marín in Havana, and her family is still left with no idea of what happened to her.
Her brother Yoandri Marín dedicated an emotional message to her on his Facebook wall, once again appealing for solidarity to find out where the young woman is.
"It is very hard for the family not to know what could have happened to her, a year filled with great sorrow. We only ask God to protect her from all harm and to grant us the strength to live with such a destructive doubt as her disappearance," he wrote.
"We love you, my sister. Your parents, your brothers, and your daughter; you will always be in our hearts and in our thoughts," he emphasized.
Karildi is a 25-year-old woman and mother of a little girl who lives in Párraga, in the Arroyo Naranjo municipality. She disappeared on December 14 of last year when she left her home to go to a party.
During this time, his brother has been sharing messages with his photo online to ensure that the case does not fade into oblivion.
In October, marking the 10-month anniversary of the disappearance, he published a text in which he questioned the actions of the authorities.
"This has really disappointed me, to be honest. How can a 24-year-old girl and mother of a baby go missing in a country without borders?... I only ask God to protect you from all human evil and to watch over you. Your family loves you and hopes to hear from you... Time will tell; between heaven and earth, nothing is hidden," he emphasized.

"There is a family suffering because there is nothing more exhausting than having questions without answers. Where could he be? What happened to him? If something happened, who is responsible?" her brother wondered at that moment.
In mid-August, Yoandri stated that he still held out hope of finding out what happened to his sister.
"I ask God to always keep you safe and for justice to be served by the authorities, because to this day we have no news of you," he wrote.
The young man trusts that divine justice will punish those who have harmed Karildi, but he also demands accountability from the authorities.
"Resolve my sister's case, as time is running out and it has now been almost six months since her disappearance. We need answers," she said in June.
Karildi Marín has a two-year-old daughter. On Mother's Day, her father posted a message on Facebook featuring several photos of her with her little girl and one of her when she was pregnant, shortly before giving birth.
"The officers involved in the case aren't doing anything, just sitting around. I'm sure that if it were one of their daughters, it would have been resolved by now. This is Cuba; if you don't have connections, you don't get any help," Tomás Marín pointed out indignantly.
Yoandri has also reported the authorities' inefficiency in searching for his sister.
"Those responsible for ensuring public tranquility are not doing their job properly (...). There are no signs of it; why, if clues have already been provided, does a suspect still not appear?" he inquired in April.
