The prominent Cuban actress Ofelia Libertad Núñez Castro, popularly known as "Ofelita Núñez," passed away this Monday in Havana at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy that marked the history of dramatic arts in Cuba.
With a career spanning more than six decades, Ofelia was an iconic figure in radio and television on the island, participating in countless projects that educated, entertained, and moved generations of Cubans.
Ofelita Núñez was born on July 7, 1932, in Havana.
From a young age, she showed artistic inclinations, initially in music, influenced by her mother, who wished for her to become a pianist. Later on, she found her true passion in theater and recitation.
She studied at the Hubert de Blank Municipal Conservatory of Music and later trained in acting with Professor Hortensia Gelabert.
His professional debut came after winning the "Buscando Estrellas" contest by CMQ, which allowed him to embark on a prolific career in radio and television.
Núñez never forgot his humble beginnings, especially his days at the famous "green bank" of CMQ, where young actors waited for a chance to perform.

On the radio, Ofelita shone in children's programs such as "Aunt Tata Tells Stories" and "The Music Box," as well as in radio dramas like "Sol de Batey," where she played the role of La Tojosa.

On television, he shone in iconic programs such as "La Comedia del domingo," "Tele Teatro," "Estudio 15," and telenovelas like "El naranjo del patio" and more recently, "Más allá de los límites."
