"First of all, the decor is black with gold details, and there are pictures of him everywhere, even in the bathroom. The menu itself has a bit of everything: seafood, meats, you name it. Honestly, it’s really good in that regard, but it doesn't have pictures of any dishes." This is how @missfernandez7 began her account of the experience she had at "La Romanita," the first restaurant in Miami by singer-songwriter Lenier Mesa, which she shared on TikTok.
Upon posting the video, the user wrote: “It’s not a place I would say was delicious, but we should go back. Very good service, tip included 18%,” clearly indicating her balance between the positives and negatives of the visit.
In the video, she explained that she ordered a cheese dip and some stuffed tostones: “I give that a 7 out of 10. I rate the drinks 10 out of 10; they cost $15 each and were quite strong, so I highly recommend them.” But not everything convinced her. Regarding the tamale in a pot, she commented: “It had a good flavor, especially the ropa vieja; I think it was a chilindrón, but honestly, I'm not sure. My husband rated it a 6 out of 10; he ordered it with moro rice and fried yucca.”
The dessert was what he liked the most. “The guava torreja was delicious, spectacular. The bill was $165, we also ordered the cortadito. I don’t know if you think that's expensive, but I see it as a little pricey; I think $140 would have been better, $130, but it’s just the experience, and that’s it. I won’t come back again.”
The video quickly amassed thousands of reactions. Some users defended the price and the drinks: “165 with drinks isn't expensive at all”; “For me, the price is great, everything looks spectacular”; “Food isn’t cheap anywhere, if the place is nice and the drinks are good, that’s what it costs.” Others, however, agreed with the creator: “If the food isn't good, the price doesn't matter, it’s not worth it”; “I went and I didn’t like it either”; “Better try other restaurants, there are many options.”
"La Romanita" was inaugurated at the end of December during an event attended by Lenier's friends, including Eduardo Antonio, Ms. Dayana, Alex Duvall, and Leoni Torres. On that occasion, the singer described this project as "a new and precious experience, because everything related to entertainment is part of my career."
The video from @missfernandez7 has sparked a debate, with differing opinions among those who believe the place is worth its price and those who say they would not repeat the experience.
