The Cuban Volleyball Federation has sanctioned Melissa Vargas for the next four years, one of the great promises of this sport in the world, who at 18 years old and 1.91 tall will not be able to participate in national or international competitions, according to volleymob.com. In this way the 2018 World Cup is lost.
The sanction is in addition to the one that had been applied to her after suffering a shoulder injury in 2016, which forced her to undergo surgery. Her parents did not agree with the recovery that the Federation proposed at the National Volleyball School and they took Melissa, still a minor, back to Cienfuegos, her hometown. It was then that the roller of the harsh rules of the Cuban authorities passed over the young woman, who was demoted, which prevented her from competing in international tournaments.
In 2015, Vargas received permission from the Cuban authorities to play for the Czech Republic team, VK Prostejov, when he was just 15 years old. A year earlier she had been chosen as the most outstanding player of the Central American and Caribbean Games. It must be remembered that Vargas debuted on the Cuba team when she was only 13 years old, in 2013. The experts who saw her play predicted a path full of triumphs, which now the Cuban Volleyball Federation intends to bury.
