Cuban right-hander Lázaro Leyva, who was once among the top prospects of the Baltimore Orioles, recently changed scene and signed with Tomassin Padova in Serie A1 of Italian baseball, former IBL (Italian Baseball League).

Leyva was released by the Orioles a month ago leaving a record of 0-4, 3.42 ERA between 2015 and 2017.

Standing out for his speed, the one born in Las Tunas and who emigrated at a young age, agreed in 2014 with the Orioles on a minor league contract with a bonus of $725,000. His name stood out in the minor league reports for his natural speed, which at some point approached 100 miles.

Leyva suffered injuries (car accident) that kept him from his best performance. Now at just 23 years old, the right-hander hopes to reestablish himself in baseball and capture all that trail of promise that he once showed off.
