More than 40 homes have collapsed in Pinar del Río after the passage of the subtropical storm Alberto, the newspaper reported Guerrilla.

As if that were not enough, more than 2,200 temporary facilities, located mainly in the main municipality, have suffered damage to their roofs.

They are home to families who lost their homes when hurricanes Isidore and Lili devastated the territory, 16 years ago, and Gustav and Ike, almost a decade ago.

Despite the time that has passed, these people still continue to live in those homes (supposedly they were supposed to live there temporarily), and whose condition is, in 90 percent of the cases, critical.

This was revealed by Roberto Díaz Menéndez, president of the Provincial Assembly of People's Power, who added that in recent days around twenty properties with partial damage have been reinforced to prevent them from completely collapsing.

“They are houses with wooden and tile roofs, which have not supported the weight after so much rain,” he added.

The National Institute of Hydraulic Resources reported that it has rained three times more than the historical average for this month in the territory.

Due to this, its 24 reservoirs are at 92 percent of their capacity, and 13 of them are pouring. They continue several dozen people evacuated, most of the town of Isabel Rubio, due to the flooding of the Cuyaguateje River.

Also floods are recorded in houses of the La Conchita Popular Council and in others in the capital of La Conchita.
