The 2018 Circuba International Festival will celebrate its 17th edition from Sunday, June 24 to Friday, June 29, at the Carpa Trompoloco Cultural Center, in the Miramar neighborhood of the Playa municipality, in Havana.
Around 70 artists from 19 countries will participate in the event, who will perform in two daily performances, at 4:00 p.m. and at 8:30 p.m.
The contest will be competitive and the Grand Prix will be awarded, in addition to first, second and third place, the newspaper reported. Granma.
The Awards Gala will be on June 29 and the awards will be presented by a prestigious jury led by the British Carol Gandey, general director of Gandey World Class Productions and member of the board of the European Circus Association.
During the summer the company will go on tour Circuba travels throughout Cuba, where he will present the show The Circus forever, with the presence of local and foreign artists. While the Blue Tent, from the National Circus of Cuba, will perform during that period in the province of Villa Clara.
On Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1, there will also be double functions in the Trompoloco Tent with the show Echoes of the festival.
Circuba 2018 is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the founding of the National Circus of Cuba, which was created on June 6, 1968 with 275 artists, who later formed the Cuban Circus School.
In greeting to the date, two tribute galas will be held for 58 Cuban circus artists, painting and photographic exhibitions will be inaugurated and the theme will be premiered Is for you, composed by the Cuban musician Edesio Alejandro.
The closing of Circuba 2018 will be on September 2 in Matanzas.
