Police control queue to buy electric motorcycles in Havana

This October 28, 13 stores opened in Havana and Santiago de Cuba, 12 of them in Havana, for sales in foreign currency.

In the store Tángana gas station, on Línea and Malecón, in Vedado, several police officers were monitoring the exterior of this business, where electric motorcycles are sold.

In the early hours of the morning dozens of people waited for the establishment to open its doors. There were also queues in Vedado, on 23rd and C, where motorcycle parts are sold.

A similar scene was experienced in the Shopping Center, called Galerías Paseo, where crowds were recorded to enter.

"The line reaches halfway up the Galleries ramp. There are police at the entrance," said one user.

The agents, for their part, were asking citizens not to take photos.

On October 16, the Government of Cuba disclosed the merchandise price list and explained the operation of these establishments, where you can buy only with foreign currencies, but not in Cuban pesos (CUP) or Cuban convertible pesos (CUC).

This Monday 13 stores were opened in Havana and Santiago de Cuba, 12 of them in the Cuban capital, for sale in foreign currency.

A user explained on Twitter that on Sunday there was already a considerable number of people queuing outside the FOCSA store, where a fight had even broken out between two women.

Starting this Monday, appliances, car parts and other merchandise will be sold. Mopeds or electric motorcycles, which must be registered starting in November to be able to circulate, are sold in these stores from $999 to $1,666.

Large format televisions, split televisions, freezers, high-end refrigerators, as well as automatic washing machines, ovens, sandwich makers and microwaves will be the first appliances that will be on sale.
