Several media outlets said that he had been expelled for the words he spoke in space Live Ball, where he regretted the bad moment that the Cuba team is experiencing and was in favor of the president of the Cuban Baseball Federation, Higinio Vélez, was replaced.
"The Cuba team is the reflection of the National Series and this is the reflection, to a large extent, of Cuban sports and social problems. I think there should be a new president of the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB)," he assured.
In the program he also criticized the precariousness suffered by National Series referees. "The referees deserve great respect and we also have to work for the future with what they earn. It cannot be that a referee for a game at home plate charges 38 pesos and for the bases 32," he added.
"You have to respect them because being in the sun, for three or four hours, for that salary is admirable," he said.
Porto also specified in the post that his colleagues from Live Ball had nothing to do with his departure from the program and said that his relationships with them "remain the best."
