Nicolas Maduro generated a stir by recommending this week, during one of its broadcasts on the national network, to watch the last season of the Netflix seriesThe Money Heist, which was recently released.
"And I highly recommendThe Money Heist, fourth season, very good. "Cilia and I saw it over the weekend," Maduro said.
The Venezuelan president also added that "I would like to meet the actors and actresses of the series, they are like one's family."
As if that were not enough, he also decided to sing a fragment ofHello beautiful, a popular Italian song that was adopted as an anthem of anti-fascist resistance and has been revived with the Spanish series, which has it as its soundtrack.
"These are the ravages of the quarantine, collateral damage," Maduro said after singing the chorus of the song.
His recommendation took place in the middle of a speech to talk about a day of disinfection, maintenance and cleaning in the country as a measure to combat the spread of the coronavirus, which, according to the figures given by his government, has only infected a little more than 200 people.
In addition to watching Netflix with his wife Cilia Flores, Maduro alsoAn account was opened on Tik Tok a few days ago, a social network of short videos, initially used by teenagers, but which has considerably increased its popularity during the coronavirus quarantine.
"Attention! I inform you that I have an account on the TikTok digital platform. There I will be sharing with all of you videos about government activities and more. I invite you to follow me!", the president communicated on his Twitter account.
In the midst of the great economic crisis facing Venezuela and the hardships experienced by millions of its inhabitants, Maduro's announcement further increased the annoyance and criticism towards him. Many said it was "pathetic" that a president would engage in such "bullshit" while his country is sinking.
