Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carvajal, better known by his stage name El Taiger, announced on social media the passing of his mother, Magda Zaldívar, at the age of 53.
"My greatest pride is being able to say I am my mother's son, the son of Magda the chubby one, rest in peace, mom (1967-2020). If there’s one thing I carry with me, it’s the man you made #theprince #eltaiger and the greatest José, of whom you were proud throughout your life. Always be a good son; now I have the best guide. My mom," wrote the singer alongside a photo of them both.
Despite his painful loss, El Taiger has chosen to remember her happily and cherish the best moments they spent together. In addition to sharing the news with his followers, the artist posted a video of a fun road trip in which they are both seen singing "El derecho de nacer" by Óscar D'León.
El Taiger's post has received over 5,000 condolences from his fans and fellow musicians in just a few minutes.
"We are very sorry for your loss. Strength to you and your family. May God keep her in glory," wrote Leoni Torres.
"Little brother, my deepest condolences. May your mom always be that star shining down on you," remarked the young repairman El Wampi.
