
Leoni Torres is a Cuban singer, composer, and record producer who was born on November 24, 1977, in Camagüey province, Cuba.
He began his career as a vocalist for the group Costa Sur. He has a lesser-known facet as a comedian, which led him to create his own group, 'Los Cariduros.' Two years after this project, he began singing with the Maravillas de Florida orchestra, after being heard by David Calzado, and subsequently became part of Charanga Habanera, where he gained popularity for 8 years.
In 2007, Leoni began his solo career and since then he has been steadily garnering success by lending his voice and collaborating on projects with renowned Cuban and international artists such as Descemer Bueno, Polito Ibañez, El Micha, Pablo Milanés, and Kelvis Ochoa. He has recorded with Rosario Flores and Gilberto Santa Rosa, and in 2016 he signed a contract with the record label Magnus, owned by singer and songwriter Marc Anthony, who became interested in his musical career following the song "Traidora," performed by Marc Anthony along with the popular group Gente de Zona, which Leoni co-wrote with Randy Malcom, one of the group's members.
He has received the Popularity Award several times, served as the soundtrack for Cuban soap operas (Los tres Villalobos, Añorado encuentro, and Aquí estamos), and been featured in television spots, such as his song “No pierdas el tiempo” for the Center for the Prevention of STIs/HIV/AIDS (MINSAP)
He is married to the Cuban actress and presenter Yuliet Cruz, with whom he has two children. Leoni also has a daughter from a previous marriage.
