The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, referred this Friday to the Democratic candidate Joe Biden as "president-elect", in his first statement offered to the media since November 3.

The leader of the Lower House regretted that she was wearing a mask and could not show her joy at the fact that Biden already has a guaranteed victory in this race, in her words.

"It is a happy day for our country because Joe Biden is a person who unites, because he is determined to bring people together, because he respects all points of view and as he already said: 'I ran as a Democrat, but I will govern as an American,'" Pelosi said from the Capitol.

"This morning it has become clear that the Biden-Harris candidacy is going to win the White House," he assured, based on the lead it has achieved in the last few hours in four of the states that have not yet finished counting votes: Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada and Arizona.

Pelosi celebrated that The popular vote for Biden has been historic, with nearly 74 million ballots in his favor, a figure that breaks the record established by Barack Obama in 2008 as the most voted candidate in the history of the United States.

The House leader said she was "personally delighted with the quality and caliber of leadership that Joe Biden will bring to this country."

Pelosi also addressed the issue of Democratic seats lost in the Lower House compared to 2018, although his party maintains the majority.

"We did not win all the battles in the House, but we won the war," he stressed.

Despite the lost seats in the House of Representatives and the tensions that this has generated among Democrats, Pelosi announced that she will seek another term in the speaker's chair.

This Friday morning, Biden won the lead in Pennsylvania, which could strengthen his path to victory. The Democrat also leads in Nevada, Arizona and Georgia, a total of four of the six pending states. However, Trump insists that Democrats are committing "voter fraud" in the counting of mail-in votes and has made it clear that he will promote a legal battle.
