Cuba continues to expand its presence in the Beauty contests worldwide. HeMiss International 2022 will not be the exception, becauseRachel Martin Padilla She is the young woman who will raise the name of the island during the contest.

This will be the 60th edition of the contest that has been held annually in Japan, since its creation in 1960, and although the coronation was delayed for two consecutive years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everything seems to indicate that next December there will be a new one. beauty queen.

In interview withCyberCuba, Rachel Martín shared details of her career and how she became the face of the Caribbean country for Miss International 2022.

Rachel's inclination for everything related to art came from a very young age, when she was still living in her native Güines, in Mayabeque: “I practiced ballet from the age of 4 and then I started with the circus to follow the family tradition and do what I wanted to do.” “I really loved it, but I never left my love for fashion and the world of catwalks behind.”

"Whenever there was a beauty pageant I didn't miss it, I sat in front of the television and I didn't get up at all except to walk and act like the contestants, it was like I visualized myself and dreamed that I was going to become like them and today one of many dreams came true for that little girl with thousands of dreams,” Rachel confessed to this medium.

While living in Cuba she always liked modeling, but remembers that in those days there was not much scope in that area within the country. When she arrived in the United States, she found opportunities and began training as a professional model.

Although Rachel studied cosmetology and that career would be of great help in her future, she began to work as a model with clothing brands, for some boutiques, to model for stores, she was the image of a jewelry store and she worked with many professional photographers, so that little by little became known in this world.

"One day my best friend called me and told me 'they are going to do Latin Beauty, either you sign up or I sign you up.' At that moment I was a little confused but later I encouraged myself, I signed up and did the casting and I was accepted but that year it was suspended due to the pandemic,” Rachel said about the moment she began to delve into beauty pageants.

This year she had another opportunity and auditioned for Miss International 2022: “Without thinking I signed up knowing that it was already something bigger and more international, but always with great confidence and faith that I would make it.”

For the young Cuban, representing her native country “is one of the most important things I know I will do in my life.”

“I talk about Cuba and I can't help but cry because I carry Cuba in my heart,” he says during the interview. “I am proud to put my island's name as high as it can be because they need it. Bringing a crown to my land would be a source of pride, seeing my Cubans enjoy and have a smile for an achievement like this is priceless.”

Rachel has a very clear idea for this contest: “I am going to highlight the traits of the Cuban woman and show what we are made of. And above all, lead an example to many girls who like me are in Cuba and in other parts of the world and do not dare, so that they fight for their dreams, because there is nothing impossible in this life."

In the young woman's opinion, Miss International 2022 will be an opportunity to open new doors professionally and also acquire many learnings: “I am ready to succeed in Japan this December 13, which is the grand final, just on the day of my 24th birthday.” .

Let's hope that Rachel Martín's victory will be a great gift for her on her birthday and also for Cuba.

Recently, two other Cuban representatives were announced in international beauty contests.

Judith Ramos Valdes will participate in the first edition of the Queen of the World pageant to be held next October in Venezuela, andJeniffer Lopez Palaces It will do so at the International Coffee Reign 2023, to be held in January of the following year in Colombia.
