Former Democratic congressman of the United States Joe García and Cuban-American businessman Hugo Cancio celebrated Thursday night with the painterMichel Mirabal in a luxurious restaurant in Havana.
García and Cancio, known for their support for rapprochement between the governments of the United States and Cuba, enjoyed smoking cigars and drinking, according to photos shared by Mirabal on his social networks.
"Food for the chickens, with my friend Hugo Cancio" and "Food for the chickens, my friend and I. Joe García," commented the Cuban artist on his Instagram account.
The meeting occurred at the Sensacioones Restaurant & Grill restaurant, located on Calle 70 between 9th and 11th, in the Playa municipality, according toAmerica TeVe.
The establishment, according to its Facebook page, has a menu that includes grilled meats, octopus, oysters, lobsters and other delicacies that the vast majority of Cubans do not have access to.
The day before, Joe García and Hugo Cancio participated along with othersAmerican businessmen, in a meeting with the top leadership of the regime Castro aimed at seeking commercial opportunities between economic actors from both countries.
The business forum, organized by the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and the consulting and travel group to the Island Focus Cuba, was designed to "take advantage of the windows left by the network of blockade laws" in sectors such as agribusiness, transportation, logistics and Technology of the information and communication.
Cancio is the owner ofFuego Enterprises Inc., a company that received authorization in July of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX) to do business in Cuba.
Fuego Enterprises Inc., which began as a producer of tours, artistic shows and audiovisual products, can now market "agri-food, artisanal products and consumer goods", although it will not be able to import and export directly on a commercial basis, carry out wholesale and retail trade, nor distribute and transport merchandise on the Island.
Since 2012, the entity has also registered the digital portal in CubaOnCuba, and magazinesArtOnCuba, OnCuba Travel Magazine andOnCuba Real Estate.
Hugo Cancio is also the owner of the online food sales platform katapulk.com, which makes deliveries in the main Cuban cities, and of MAScell, a company based in Miami that sells prepaid cards for mobile phones on the Island.
