Mural unveiled in Miami in tribute to Willy Chirino's 50 years of artistic career

The 60-foot-high and 55-foot-wide painting was made by artist Alexandra Seda and shows the face of the salsero and a Cuban flag in the background.

A mural intribute to the 50 years of artistic career of Willy Chirino was unveiled this Friday at the emblematicMiami Eighth Street.

The painting, 60 feet (18 meters) high and 55 feet (16.7 meters) wide, was made by artist Alexandra Seda and shows the face of the salsero and a Cuban flag in the background.

In an interview forLas Americas Newspaper, Willy Chirino confessed that this is the greatest recognition he has received in his entire musical career and did not miss the opportunity to thank the artist for such an extraordinary work of such dimensions.

Days before the inauguration of the mural, the singer of “It's coming” shared with Alexandra and, through his Instagram profile, also expressed his gratitude.

“The work she is doing painting my mural on 8th Street is something that leaves me very moved. How great his talent, his effort, his dedication, climbing up and down that crane for more than a month, defying the rains and bad weather. There are no words to thank you,” he wrote.Willy Chirino along with a photo with Alexandra.

Although the young woman was born in Miami, the daughter of a Chilean father and a Nicaraguan mother, she has always been surrounded by Cuban culture and also toldLas Americas Newspaper who grew up listening to Celia Cruz, and thanks to his father he learned the music of Willy Chirino, who in his opinion not only represents Cuba but also the essence and culture of Miami.

In addition to the unveiling of the mural, Willy Chirino received this Fridayother tributes; the CubaOcho Museum presented a drink in honor of the salsero and the Versailles restaurant debuted a new dish on its menu with the name of Willy Chirino.

According to the singer's statements to that medium, the Versailles dish is his favorite food: "White rice, two fried eggs, picadillo, ripe plantains and Cuban bread with butter."

Another tribute to his career will take place next January with the inauguration of an exhibition at the Miami History Museum under the title “Willy Chirino: 50 years of music”, made up of personal items and objects very precious to the musician who They have accompanied him throughout his career.

The artist, born in Consolación del Sur, Pinar del Río, is not only one of the most representative figures of the music and culture of his native country, but also of the Cuban community in exile.
