Cuban-American businessman, owner of Mipyme, murdered in Cuba

The Cuban-American Roberto Medina, founder of theMipyme RENOVA S.U.R.L. in Camagüey, was found dead in the Cuban town of Jagüey Grande, Matanzas, apparently the victim of a murder.

The company he ran, in charge of the sale of technological equipment, reported in a statementFacebook that “he is in mourning” because “some claimed the right to start a life that did so much good.”

The post indicates that the man would have been kidnapped [since last Wednesday], so “they have been very hard days for everyone.”

“The family and the RENOVA work group express the absolute will to continue his legacy more united, with the experience he leaves us (...) and although the person who gave him the first energy is no longer physically present, the team will not abandon the purpose of becoming a national leader,” they expressed.

For its part, the independent mediaCubans around the World reported that Medina's body was found [on Sunday] in a lagoon near Jagüey Grande.

Sources from that territory told the newspaper that the Cuban-American had been living in Camagüey for some months, where he had founded the company, whichsells solar panels, batteries, computers, among other articles.

However, he disappeared since last Wednesday and no one knew of his whereabouts until Sunday, when authorities found his lifeless body.

The man was traveling from Matanzas to Havana with his partner and was murdered near Jagüey Grande, according to the versions to which the aforementioned media outlet had access.

No official media has echoed the news despite the fact that Renova's Facebook page tagged them, and that Medina wasone of the Cuban-Americans who invested in the island after the call of the Cuban regime and he had had contact with some officials interested in the products his company sells.

The Camagüey newspaperForward highlighted in February 2022 that theMipyme RenovaIt was the only one of its kind established in the territory, and it was preparing the installation of photovoltaic systems in companies in the province as part of the first projects it carried out in favor of the use of clean energy.
