To the popular character of Facundo Correct, played by Cuban comedian Andy Vázquez, has had to explain the controversial banking of the dollar in Cuba that has generated so much annoyance and confusion among the Cuban population.
Facundo Correcto finds himself involved in a dilemma when he is told that, as a “task of the Revolution,” he will be in charge of explaining by telephone any doubts the population has about the authorization of deposit US dollars in cash in bank accounts, when he himself does not understand the new turn that the Cuban regime has taken on this issue.
Fulfilling the assignment with selflessness, Facundo answers the first call which turns out to be from -nothing more and nothing less- a federation that is trying to understand why they are now authorizing the deposit of dollars again when they had previously prohibited it.
With the official speech that characterizes the character and that is a mockery of that of the Cuban leaders, Facundo explains to the lady that before it was not possible to make deposits "due to external pressure from the North American government", the regime's well-worn argument to justify prohibition.
“So there are no more financial pressures like that?” questions the woman. "No. I say, yes, yes, the pressures remain and stronger than ever,” Facundo responds.
The lady, confused with the answer, says that then she will not be able to deposit the dollars because the pressure continues, but the other answers that yes, she can now.
Not knowing how to explain to the woman member of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), Facundo ends up raising his voice and repeating that she should deposit all the dollars she wanted.
The conversation between the characters, full of entanglements because both do not know the reasons why they did not before but now they can deposit dollars in cash, reproduces the dichotomy of many Cubans who They distrust the new government measure.
Although in 2021 the regime prohibited the use of the dollar in banks and for payments in the country, and last January it advocated de-dollarizing the economy, it has now allowed bankization again and assures that it is a step "in the right direction." .
Cubans have responded with great humor to this new government announcement at the beginning of April.
Facundo's clip adds to the saga of memes who also question, with humor and sarcasm, or thoroughly analyze the measure.
