Salsero Willy Chirino stated this Thursday thatPlanted, the film by director Lilo Vilaplana about three women political prisoners of Castroism, is a very intense and very well made film.
In a Facebook post where he shares an image next to the film's poster, the musician claims that he attended the Dolphin Mall theater with his wife Lissette and several friends to see the "Lilo Vilaplana film that recounts the imprisonment and torture of that many Cuban women were subjected to at the beginning of the revolution.
"It is a very intense film and very well done by Lilo with someexcellent performances"he stressed.
He claims that these women "decided to confront the 'commander in chief' and his crew of heartless criminals," with all the implications of such irreverence.
"It is important that this sad chapter in the history of the Cuban people be exposed to the world... Thanks to Lilo and everyone who had to do with the making of this feature film. VCL!", expressed Chirino.
The Cuban community ofMiami has embraced the Vilaplana proposal, which broke box office records since its release on March 17 and has run for more than five weeks at the Dolphin Mall.
On April 14 it premiered in Tampa and will soon do so in Puerto Rico, the director has announced. In February it wasawarded at the Miami Film Festival.
The film tells the story of Alina, Luisa and América, three women who, after fighting to restore and stabilize democracy in Cuba, realize that they have been betrayed by the leader of the revolution.
The three begin to confront and challenge the new system and end up being imprisoned. "Their lives are intertwined in the misfortune they endure inside a prison cell where their human rights are violated without respecting their status as women," the poster states.
