The Cuban government gave a pair of crutches to aboy missing a leg, who participated in the May Day events In the Habana.
On Saturday, regime spokesperson Yaima Valle Barrios announced in herFacebook, as if it were something extraordinary, the delivery of crutches to the minor at the health department of the Cotorro municipality.
According to Valle Barrios, little Ardiel was the "sensation of International Workers' Day" in Cuba.
"Today, thanks to the collaboration of friends from other countries and in charge of the delivery to Giraldo Castillo, a pair of crutches was donated to him so that he can use them when he walks, in his games and at school. Thank you, Ardiel, for giving us that possibility of knowing you and helping you and above all showing us that it is always possible," he said.
Ardiel is nine years old and studies at the Solidaridad con Panamá school, a center designed for children and adolescents with physical-motor impairments or mental retardation, unique in the country.
His uncle, a worker at the Construction Materials Business Group (GEICON), thought it was a good idea to take him to the parade organized last Friday, after thesuspension of the traditional May Day in the Plaza de la Revolución.
Without his right leg - for unknown reasons - Ardiel should have at least one prosthesis, but according to the photo released by the CDR, he only has a crutch to help his tiny body move.
His relatives consented to the use of his image byGerard Hernandez Nordelo, one of the so-called "five heroes" who is now national coordinator of the CDR, and who does not hesitate to use the photo of the child, leaning on his crutch and waving a Cuban flag, to propagandize the regime, in an event that characterized by very low popular participation.
