The Miami Marlins They celebrated this Saturday the Cuban Heritage Day in the game they ended up losing 6 runs to 5 against the Cincinnati Reds at LoanDepot Park.
The Miami MLB franchise advanced the celebration that usually takes place on May 20th, Cuba's independence day, since it will not play at home on that date, reported the official MLB site.
During Cuban Heritage Day, the Marlins wore an exclusive jersey with the colors of the Cuban flag and the name of the city. The uniform evokes the Cuban Sugar Kings, a prominent Cuban team of the late 1950s.
The first ball was thrown by the musician Jacob Forever and the legendary brothers Orlando and Liván Hernández.
The reggaeton player shared photos and videos of his performance, in which he looked very confident, after receiving guidance from the emblematic Cuban baseball players.
In addition, the national anthem was sung a cappella before the start of the game and Cuban music was heard in the stadium - Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan and others -, and also some chords of “Patria y Vida”, the anthem of the resistance against the regime.
A portion of the proceeds from each ticket from that game went to charitable organizations in the Cuban community of South Florida.
In the Marlins lineup, Cubans Jorge Soler and Yuli Gurriel they went 4-2 2C and 3-1 1RBI, respectively. For the Reds, shortstop José The Fine Barrero went 1 for 4 and scored one.
