A Cuban identified as Teresa Miranda denounced that Banco Popular de Ahorro (BPA) prevents her from withdrawing her money through evasion, and considered that the institution "is not reliable."
"He is not reliable because he has no money and now he cheats with other people's money, people go to that bank in search of their money, and they only receive statements... that there is no connection, that there is no power, etc., the case is that the bank closes early, well below normal hours, or simply does not open," she said indignantly.
He said that a few days ago he traveled to Mayarí, province of Holguín, with one of his brothers to carry out a legal procedure regarding a home and that's where the odyssey began.
"The first step was carried out at the Notary's Office, where they sent us to theBank, there they told us that we had to deposit $30,000 in cash and after finishing the procedure, recover that money, by means of a check. Before the deposit, my brother wanted to transfer that amount from his card for the check, but they did not accept it, they wanted the cash (to steal better)," he said.
He added that "this thieving regime uses blackmail to manipulate other people's money, if money is not deposited in the bank, said procedure cannot be continued in the Notary's Office," where afterdeposit the cash in the BPA "They charged him 200 pesos and sent it back to the bank to pay 2,400 more pesos."
However, to collect the check for 30,000 pesos after completing the process, the brothers were only able to withdraw 5,000 pesos from the Mayarí bank.
"According to what they told me, I could only make one daily withdrawal for $5,000, and this would be done in theBank of Guaro, the town where I live, but since we live from story to story and from lie to lie, since Friday of last week, I have been after that money," he explained.
He comments that "on Friday they closed due to "lack of connection", Saturday and Sunday they do not open, on Monday I managed to extract $5,000, for Tuesday and Wednesday the story was "The vault is locked"... and for today, Thursday, they put up a sign , announcing that the Bank would only receive deposits, because of withdrawals, nothing at all.
Miranda considered indignantly that "this is how these degenerates make fun of us, blackmail us, steal from us."
"If I could offer my money as an offering so that the dictatorship would disappear, I would gladly offer it, but since they have decided to stay in power at all costs, even if to do so they have to continue liquidating Cubans as is happening now, when people are dying of hunger, they are dying in hospitals due to lack of resources, hospitals that look more like pigpens, innocent people in prison tortured in a bad way, for just defending our rights, and all this will continue until this people converts at least a little and learns to defend their rights, I believe that only then will God have mercy on us," he said.
Recently, the Cuban regime began a banking process that affects thousands of people in the country, because in addition to retaining their cash and forcing them to use payment methods that are not customary on the island,limited cash transactions to 5,000 pesos a day between companies to try to mitigate the crisis of printed Cuban pesos that the island is currently facing, according to banking authorities.
“All collection and payment relationships between economic actors must be based on the payment methods established by the BCC, prioritizing electronic channels,” said the vice president of the Central Bank of Cuba, Alberto Quiñones Betancourt, in a public intervention.
