Neighbors ofBlocked They protested before thebodega where they buy the scarce food from the basic basket that the Cuban regime sells in a rationed manner to the population.
“Every month it's the same,” one of them was heard saying, outraged at the winemaker, whom he accused of stealing part of their rations from consumers through cheating when weighing food.
A video sent to the editorial office ofCyberCubashows the moment in which a resident of Gibara – identified as Maykel – loses his temper and unleashes a protest that ended with threats and throwing stones at the winemaker, whom he accused of being a thief.
“This is how Gibara woke up today, September 1, when the wineries begin to sell regulated products. In the current situation of basic products in the basket, many of the warehouse employees steal their products from consumers,” the source indicated.
In the images you can see a group of neighbors gathered on the street in front of the winery. Many of them try to calm Maykel, who has lost his patience and demands that they weigh him the quota ofsugar again, since he suspects that – as happens “every month” – he is the victim of a robbery by the winemaker.
The events occurred this Friday morning at the El Caracol winery, located on Independencia Street, according to the testimony sent to this newsroom. At the time of publishing this note, the Gibara authorities have not commented on the neighbors' complaint.
Maykel's protest ended with threats to the winemaker and a sad scene, as the man, in his rage and impotence, ended up spilling all of his quota's sugar on the street, amidst the screams and cries of his relatives.
The terrible shortages that Cubans suffer, especially notable in the food they receive throughsupply book, provokes scenes similar to that of Gibara throughout the country.
The decrease in the quotas established in the basic basket, delays in reaching products to consumers, sometimes for months, added to inflation, high prices and the shortage of food for sale "freely", have become a daily nightmare for ordinary Cubans, who fight for their survival with salaries that the "economic order" have come to nothing.
In mid-August,several Cubans protested in a warehouse due to the refusal to sell them products corresponding to the basic basket due to the alleged lack of workers in the establishment.
As reported by the Cuban Observatory of Human Rights on its Twitter account, Cubans demanded the sale of their food that they could not obtain due to lack of workers, without revealing the place where the protest took place.
Historical producer and exporter of sugar worldwide, the Cuba of Miguel Díaz-Canel's "continuity" is incapable of producing the sugar necessary to satisfy domestic demand, even having to resort to imports of this product.
"Fat, wet and even a little smelly They sold us sugar. No leader of this province cares about anything if they have the refined and white kind," said a resident in the La Caridad district in mid-July, complaining about the poor quality of the sugar that the State sold in a rationed manner.
