The Cuban girl Vanessa Alfonso Lupianez, who was told by Cuban doctors that the cancer she suffered from had no cure, has just overcome the disease after just over a year of treatment in the United States.

The little girl arrived in Miami with her parents and brother in June 2022, thanks to the intervention of the Cuban-American congresswoman.Maria Elvira Salazar, who this Saturday happily shared the news of the little girl's recovery.

"We helped the girl Vanessa a year ago with a 'humanitarian visa' so she could be treated for cancer. In Cuba they told her there was no solution. Today Vanessa is healthy. Because of things like this I am proud to be a congressman. The sacrifices in DC turns pink. Glory to God!" Salazar said on his Twitter along with a photo with the family.

Vanessa, now 7, was treated at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami-Dade, after being evicted by the Cuban public health system. The girl had kidney cancer and according to Cuban doctors, she would not survive the treatment.

They removed his kidney, but they did not have the medications he required for subsequent treatment. According to the family, they refused to tell them what medications the patient required, even though she was suffering from pain.

In August, the minor was ablefulfill his dream of meeting the popular Colombian singer Karol G in Miami.

He was already recovering positively and managed to personally meet his idol, Bichota, at a concert he gave in Miami.

Jéniffer Lupianez, Vanessa's mother, explained on her networks that "Karol G's songs gave Vanessa joy in her healing process. They healed her heart" as her favorite song says,While I heal from my heart.

Vanessa's grandfather, a Cutler Bay resident, was the one who contacted Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar at the end of 2021, to ask for help for his granddaughter.

After difficulties with Citizenship and Immigration Services, the family obtained a humanitarian visa thanks to Sañazar's mediation.
