A group of 11 Cubans and two Venezuelans who were victims ofsexual exploitationin a dance club Suriname They were rescued.
The investigation began when a woman approached the Paramaribo Motorcycle Unit and indicated thatshe had escaped from a dance bar where she was sexually exploited, as revealedthe press of the South American country.
During the investigation, police discovered that the victims were lured to Suriname and housed in rooms linked to the bar, located in the Nickerie district.
They were obliged to pay for accommodation and "entertain" the clients.
It was revealed that the travel expenses to Suriname had been covered by the owner of the club, to whom the income generated by the women was also destined.
The place was finally located and raided. The raid ended with the rescue of 13 women from Venezuela and Cuba, who were later placed in a protective shelter.
Reports indicate that three people were arrested in connection with the case during the raid and two others subsequently.
Three of those arrested were women of Cuban origin, who were arrested by agents from the anti-trafficking in persons unit (TIP) and the intelligence services of the structure to combat serious crimes (BZC) and the Western Region.
The other two arrested were a Surinamese man and his partner, a man of Venezuelan origin.
At the closing of this note, the identity of the victims has not been revealed, nor of those detained in the human trafficking plot.
It is also known the immigration status of the 11 Cuban victims and whether they will be deported to the island.
