Plane bound for Santiago de Cuba makes emergency landing in Madrid

The plane took off from Adolfo Suárez International Airport in Madrid at 1:59 pm. and returned three hours later.


A flight of thePlus Ultra airline, leased by Cubana de Aviación, which covered theMadrid-Santiago de Cuba destination had to make an emergency landing in the aAdolfo Suárez International Airport “Barajas”, due to a breakdown in one of the engines.

The plane's crew reported a possible problem in the engine, indicating that they needed to make the landing to reduce weight and be able to make a safe landing, Spanish air traffic controllers reported from their account on thered social X.

According to the flight tracking platformFlightAware, the plane took off from Madrid international airport at 1:59 pm. and landed at 5:52 pm.

The flight had a smooth landing and so far no injuries have been reported on board the plane.

Several incidents resulting in emergency landings have occurred in recent months.

At the end of june,a Delta Airlines plane landed at the North Carolina airport without the front wheels and without any casualties among the crew and passengers.

Another ship, but from theSpirit Airlines urgently returned to a South Florida airport, last July, due to engine failure.
