Cristiano Ronaldo reaches 50 goals in 2023 and equals Haaland as the year's top scorer

The Portuguese achieved the feat the same year in which everyone thought that his entry into the Arab League was his end.

Cristiano Ronaldo This Monday he scored his 50th goal so far this year, and equaled the number of goals with the NorwegianErling Haaland, Manchester City F.C. player

Sports media highlight the feat in a year in which many considered the Portuguese footballer finished after emigrating to the Arab League.

However,Cristiano has become the top figure in his league and a reference for his team.

With goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané, Al-Nassr beat Al-Shabab 5-2, to advance to the semifinals of theKing Cup from Saudi Arabia.

About to turn 39 years old, so far in 2023, Cristiano, in addition to scoring 50 goals, has given 13 assists in 56 games played.

Added to this is that last weekend he completed his 1,200th game as a professional: Sporting Lisbon (31), Manchester United (346), Real Madrid (438), Juventus (134), Al-Nassr (46) and the National Team Portugal (205).

The Portuguese player still has three games left with his team in the Arab League before the Christmas break, so he could still become the world's top scorer this year.

At the moment Cristiano and Haaland are followed by Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane who have 49 goals each.

Cristiano Ronaldo in Al-Nassr

It was in December of last year when the Al-Nassr club confirmed what had been an open secret for several days:the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.

"The world's greatest athlete officially joins Al-Nasr," the Saudi team wrote on their networks on Twitter along with a photo of CR7 posing with the yellow shirt he would wear and next to the club president, Mosli Al-Muammar.

The footballer is expected to play in Saudi Arabia for two and a half seasons.

Cristiano also became an ambassador for the country's project to organize the 2030 World Cup, which raised his salary.

Of the 75 million he receives, the Portuguese's salary increased by 125 million due to his status as ambassador, reaching 200 million. In total, in his two and a half seasons Cristiano Ronaldo could earn up to 500 million.

"I am looking forward to experiencing a new football league in a different country. The vision in which Al-Nassr operates is very inspiring and I am excited to join my teammates. Let's help the team achieve more successes together," declared Cristiano Ronaldo after his arrival in statements to the Saudi press.

The signing with Al Nassr - which has managed to be champion of the Saudi league up to nine times - meant Cristiano Ronaldo's goodbye to elite football, at least in club competitions.

The Portuguese did not find a place in Europe, where he offered himself to all the Champions League clubs to continue his career in Europe, without any of them accepting.

However, a year later the Portuguese confirms that his physical condition and the quality of his game continue to be enviable.
