Professor Pedro Albert is admitted after 12 days without food in prison: "Let's not let him die"

Cuban activists ask for the freedom of the professor, political prisoner, Pedro Albert.

"Pedro Albert's wife just called me to tell me that he was transferred to theNational Hospital and since January 20th he has not eaten. He remains in police custody at the hospital. Freedom Now!!! The teacher is in prison for fighting for everyone's freedom. Let's not leave him alone, let's not let him die. Cuba WAKE UP!!", said Barrero on the social network

Ana Elvis Amaya, wife of Pedro Albert, shared a broadcast ondirect on Facebook where he explains the delicate state of health of the imprisoned professor and asked for solidarity so that his case is known to the world.

"He told me that he would risk his life so that Cuba would react. He is currently in the National Hospital. He has not eaten for 13 days," said the wife.

In January 2023, the Cuban professor wassentenced to five years of limitation of freedom by the Popular Municipal Court of Diez de Octubre. The sentence is due to his participation in the protests of July 11, 2021.

However, he was detained by State Security in November, during the visit to Cuba of the European Union's Human Rights Rapporteur, Eamon Gilmore. On that occasion, the political prisoner and cancer patient was also isolated and went on hunger strike.

"Just because of thinking differently, a man is dying from prostate cancer. He is seriously ill. Just because of thinking differently, a man is dying in prison. There is no intention to save his life," insists the professor's wife.
