Body of man found floating in Miami river

The man, identified as Abraham Mgowano, fell overboard on Saturday around 2:30 pm while traveling as a passenger on a charter boat.

Authorities found the body of a 35-year-old man floating over the side of a boat last Saturday floating in the Miami River on Tuesday.

Miami police confirmed they responded to the scene – near the 300 block of Northwest Second Street – around 10:15 a.m., along with city fire rescue personnel.

There they found the body, which was placed in the back of a rescue boat and covered with a tarp, the media reported. Local 10.

According to police, the man, identified as Abraham Mgowano, fell overboard on Saturday at around 2:30 pm while traveling as a passenger on a 44-foot charter boat, along with 12 other people.

Immediately the man disappeared in the river. A group of divers began the search that same day and personnel from the US Coast Guard joined in these efforts but suspended their part on Saturday night.

Police stressed that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is leading the investigation into death of the victim.
