A Cuban denounced the deplorable state of theCementerio de Mayabe, in Holguín, where there are desecrated niches and bone remains exposed to the elements.

Jorge Luis, a user of the social network Facebook, shared sensitive photographs that show how the remains of loved ones lie outside the vaults in the largest cemetery in the province of Holguín.

"It is a deep pain for the families, who hoping to find peace, face such a scene of abandonment," Jorge commented.

In 2023, similar complaints had already been made in the sameCementerio de Mayabe. However, this is not an isolated case in Holguín or Cuba.

A few weeks ago it was reported the existence in theNecropolis of Columbus, in Havana of a ditch that remains open full of human bones for everyone to see.

The problem, as echoed in the complaints, arises from frequent thefts and vandalism, as well as the lack of adequate attention by the authorities to funeral spaces.

This situation is not limited to large cities. Also in provinces such as Artemisa, similar incidents have been reported, suggesting a pattern of government neglect and widespread lack of responsibility in the maintenance of the country's cemeteries.

Citizen complaints are becoming more frequent regarding practices that seem to have become commonplace, not only in the capital, but in various parts of the island.

This abandonment and lack of respect for the deceased and their families is another example of the shortcomings in public services in Cuba.
